Happy Holidays!

I'm finishing up the house cleaning I need to get done today, and tomorrow I'm headed for the Old Homestead for the family thing.

I probably won't be posting much until the new year, so I wanted to wish everyone happy, and safe holidays.

Remember, it's bad manners to strangle your family members at the dinner table. Wait until everyone is finished.

And, when celebrating New Year's Eve, "I'm gettin nekkid!" is not a resolution. Even if you're drunk.

Happy Christmas and Merry New Year! Yes, I'm still taking the Pain Killers.

I just caught up on reading your blog, so there are a bunch of misplaced comments here:
What a bunch of JERKS at the Ins Co.
Re:Christmas songs...I fight back with my "Twisted Christmas" songs.
Christmas shopping, I just try to do most of it either online or finish up before 12/10. This year I had to finish before the surgery.

Re: Difficult Fam...Sweetie, we've all got at least ONE, and some of us have more than that. I spent the 1st 30 yrs of my life trying to be the "Peacemaker". Yeah, like that was a real rewarding job. Finally, I just said, internally "F--- this. They can fight it out amongst themselves." I'm spent Christmas at home, with MY kids for a change. They coped and my stress level went down.
My kids enjoyed NOT being on the road, and having pizza instead of turkey for Christmas dinner. Every year since then, I've served non-traditional Christmas meals. Mexican food, Lasagne, loaded baked potatoes, a table groaning under hors d'oerves, waffles and bacon. No one has ever left my table hungry. And it's nice to do something different a month after the traditional bounty of Thanksgiving. This year it's beans and cornbread plus my Mother's beef nachos.

I wish you and your fam a VERY Merry CHristmas and a Happy, Healty and Prosperous New Year!

Holly, Your Christmas menus sound kinda like something I'd think to do... anything but the turkey dinner. I don't really dislike turkey, but I think I'd smoke it or bbq it or something... or cut straight to the turkey sandwiches. But then, I've also said "instead of doing turkey and all like everybody else, why not have deer steaks and bisquits and gravy?" Grandmama didn't like that idea at all, but now that she's not feeling like cooking *at*all*, she don't have any say. And Mexican food... well, my sister used to cook a real good batch of chicken enchiladas and IIRC she used RoTel.

"No one has ever left my table hungry. And it's nice to do something different a month after the traditional bounty of Thanksgiving."

IMO, that's two real good and important points.

Even if you end up alone at Denny's for Christmas dinner, remember there's a magic you only find in your heart.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year AND.... God Bless you and the farm folks!!!

You gotta paint yourself blue and dance around a bonfire to bring it to "resolution" status, and drunk counts
